TTC and Go Transit discounts for students
Did you know that Alpha College students are entitled to a TTC Student Monthly Pass and a GO Transit Student ID, which grant students a discount on bus rides in Toronto and the GTA?
Below you can find the step by step on how you can apply for the TTC Student Monthly Pass and GO Transit Student ID card:
How to get a TTC Student Monthly Pass
Students enrolled in a full-time program at Alpha College can apply for a TTC Post-Secondary Monthly pass, which will allow students to travel on TTC at a discounted rate. Here is how Alpha College students can apply for their TTC Post-Secondary Monthly Pass:
1 – Buy a Presto card (available at TTC subway stations and other selected locations, such as Shoppers Drug mart)
2 – Go to the TTC Photo ID center located at Bathurst station (Monday – Friday: 3 PM to 7 PM, and Saturday: 10 AM to 2 PM) to get your post-secondary Photo ID. Students must show their enrolment letter and one piece of government issued photo ID, and pay the photo ID card fee of $5.25.
3 – Take your Presto Card and post-secondary Photo ID (which you issued at the Bathurst subway station) to a participating Shoppers Drug Mart. You will need to ask the cashier to change the fare setting of your Presto card to student.
4 – Now you will be able to purchase the post-secondary monthly pass, which usually provides students a discount of 15% on the TTC monthly pass. You can check the fares here.
Please note students using the TTC post-secondary monthly pass are required to carry the post-secondary photo ID at all time, as they may be requested by TTC employees as a proof of your status.
How to get a GO Transit Student ID card
Alpha College enrolled in full-time programs are eligible to apply for a Go Transit Student ID, which provides up to 40% discount off the single standard adult Go fare. Below you can read how to apply for a Go Transit Student ID:
1 – Buy a Presto card (available at TTC subway stations and other selected locations, such as Shoppers Drug mart)
2- Access the Go transit Student ID request to fill in the first part of the application form. After submitting your personal information, make sure to check your e-mail, as you will receive an email with a request for additional information.
3- Once your GO Transit Student ID Request is approved, you will be emailed a PRESTO student concession fare voucher. Make sure to save this voucher, as it is unique and you will use it to receive the discount on your Go fares.
4 – Login into your PRESTO card account:
– Click “My Products”
– Click “Redeem Voucher”
– Submit the voucher Code
Note: Students must wait 6 hours before using the card.
